Celebrating Success
Lovely to see so many students visiting me this week very proud of their achievements in the Learning Lab. As many of you would be aware Mrs Carolyn Watson is retiring at the end of this term. She has worked in a variety of educational roles through the years at BNPS and her dedication to students and their achievements is truly inspiring. BNPS has been fortunate to have had her experience for the past 20 years, previously she has worked as an educator for over 45 years. We admire the tireless dedication, passion and energy that she brings to her work. On behalf of the school community we wish Carolyn well as she embarks on her next life adventures.
Many congratulations Eli, Ted, Emilia, Jaime, Lucas, Cooper & Henry
Learning Lab and Learning and Support for 2021
Mrs Amanda Mason will be working with Mrs Katrina Ross in the learning and support roles in 2021. They will be supported by our SLSO (Student Learning Support Officers) We are currently reviewing all learning and support needs of our students across the school. Many of our students who require transitions will be accommodated over the next few weeks. Our systematic processes ensure all students who require this time will be catered for. There will be changes to learning and support in 2021, as student needs change we look carefully at student data and all learning and support programs are based around evidence-based research. We will continue to communicate our processes through our newsletter, website and our information evenings early in Term One.

Kindergarten Graduation and Presentation Days
Our presentation days and Kindergarten Graduation are just about here. As mentioned in last week's newsletter, we have been working on finding a way to allow parents to attend. To keep in line with NSW DoE COVID-19 restrictions, we are pleased to let you know that we are able to have one parent per award winner, and one parent per Kindergarten child, attend their relevant presentation day ceremony.
An email with a letter attached will be emailed from the school email address in the next few days to award recipient families. This letter will include an RSVP link and this must be completed by Thursday, 4 December. Attending parents will be required to follow these directives:
- The attending parent must complete the QR Code COVID-19 Visitor Form upon being seated or bring a printed and completed visitor form on the day.
- Parents must remain physically distanced at all times and remain in their designated seat. All seats will be labelled with the attending parent’s name and this name must match the RSVP and COVID-19 visitor form.
- Parents must enter and exit through the Mons Rd gates only.
- Parents are unable to mingle, greet their child before or after the assembly or move from their seat unless instructed.
- Parents are to remain seated to take photographs during the assembly. There will be no opportunities for parents to take photos or greet their child after the assembly. We are investigating the option of having a designated photographer onsite to take photographs that will then be made available to parents for download. This will be confirmed.
We are grateful to have found a way to have parents onsite for these important occasions and trust that the parent community will abide by the above.
Band
Our band and strings students were treated to a wonderful African drumming incursion this week. The students enjoyed the experience greatly and engaged with Tuzo, a musician from Ghana.
Our Junior Band is still welcoming new players for 2021. Please reach out to the band committee at bnpsband@hotmail.com if you are interested. I would like to pay special thanks to Annie White, who has led the band committee for the last 7 years. She retires from that role this year and we welcome Caroline Spieght, who comes with years of experience in leading band programs. We also welcome Natasha Roumanoff as band coordinator and conductor of the Concert and Senior bands. Natasha is a highly accomplished, successful musician with international experience in playing and conducting bands. She is also a local parent who knows and values the band program. I offer sincere thanks on behalf of the school to Natasha and Nigel Harris, who have coordinated and led the concert and senior bands for the last three years. Under their tutelage, we won the coveted Battle of the Bands trophy in 2019 and look forward to contesting it again in 2021! Yenny Johnson and Angus Bullough remain as our string ensemble conductor and Junior Band conductor, respectively. We are grateful to have conductors of such a high calibre, all accomplished musicians and performers in their own right. They bring a huge wealth of expertise, passion for music and experience in leading and conducting bands.
