Newsletter Term 3 Week 8 2023
"We acknowledge and respect the traditional custodians on whose land our school rests. Their footsteps and whispers blow in the wind, drift on the clouds, remain deep in the sandstone and float on the waterways of this place. Their memories and Dreaming stories will continue to connect us to the land and guide future generations of our school community. Country is alive if you take the time to look, listen and learn."

Thank you to Ashley Gualter, George Vella and Steve Hill who work hard to keep our school grounds in fantastic condition, liaise with maintenance and trades as well as organise and upkeep our facilities.
Thank you to our administration team, Colleen Tobler, Beth Saunders, Ruth Skeeles, Deb Elder and Ann Parkinson, they care for students who come to sick bay, manage parent queries and are often the first port of call for students and parents. They ensure the efficient management of school financial and administrative duties to ensure we have a happy, safe and well organised school. They are the backbone of our school.
Father’s Day Stall excitement!
One of the highlights of the year, our students excitedly ventured down to shop at the Father’s Day stall for their special gifts, for those special someones in their family.
An amazing, varied spread of choices laid out before them. What a treat! Such hard decisions to make. We would like to send a huge THANK YOU to Julia Thomas for coordinating and to all those who also volunteered to organise, prepare for and man the tables at the Father’s Day Stall this year.
It was a great success!!!

Spotlight on Stage One
Stage One is having a ball, learning in Term 3!!!!
Exploring character and narrative through beautiful books, like Tilly, Giraffes Can't Dance and Boy.
Appreciating a performance at the Glen Street Theatre and using our drama skills through the book Rose Meets Mr Wintergarten.
Investigating water, it’s importance to life as we know it and how we can use it responsibly.
Exercising our bodies at the Athletics Carnival, Sport Fun Day, PE lessons and grade sport time.
Reasoning in Mathematics
Our budding mathematicians are enjoying lots of opportunities to puzzle and wonder through mathematics. All Stage One classes have been exploring mathematical reasoning in small groups, with teachers using strategic questioning and focussing on the three key reasoning actions: Analysing, Generalising and Justifying. The students thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to share and explain their mathematical thinking and justify why one strategy is more efficient than another. Teachers are also taking the opportunity to stretch their learning, developing effective ways to record student responses and using their observations to make informed plans forward for the mathematical learning their individual students need.
Rangers For A Day
On Monday, we were all off on an adventure to investigate 'backyard buddies' and their habitats, searching for birdlife and other amazing bush animals. It was our excursion to Field Of Mars Environmental Education Centre, where we had the opportunity to connect what we’ve been learning in geography and science to how it matters in real life.
‘It was exciting when we got to use magnifying glasses to look at interesting insects.’ Amelie 2/1P
‘I liked that we got to learn a lot about habitats and even got to make our own habitats.’ Orla 2A
‘My favourite thing we did was making a beehive.’ Flossie 2A
‘I learnt that we can use our senses to see if nature is hurt.’ Frankie 2A
‘It was exciting when we saw a red bellied black snake up close in the wild.’ Seren 2/1P
‘One new thing I learnt was that you need a balance of animals. If there’s too many snakes and not enough frogs, the snakes will die because there isn’t enough to eat.’ Liam 2/1P
