Newsletter Term 1 week 8 2024
"We acknowledge and respect the traditional custodians on whose land our school rests. Their footsteps and whispers blow in the wind, drift on the clouds, remain deep in the sandstone and float on the waterways of this place. Their memories and Dreaming stories will continue to connect us to the land and guide future generations of our school community. Country is alive if you take the time to look, listen and learn."

Leading From the Heart
Today I will be meeting with the NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group for The Beaches network (AECG) to connect and collect feedback on our draft school plan. Thank you to our P&C and our school community for the support and feedback that you have provided over the past 3 months as we create our vision for the next 3 years for Balgowlah North Public School. We are hopeful that we will have finalised our plan by the end of the term.
Over this term I have been spending time teaching in the classrooms across our school. It fills my bucket as the lead learner in our school community, grounds for me the purpose behind why I do what I do. Educators have the best job in the world, more importantly it gives me a chance to connect on a deeper level with all our students, understand their passions and interests and see how they are travelling with their learning, their engagement and their strengths.
We have some wonderful opportunities for our students this year, many of our new programs have commenced and it is so exciting to see the passion and commitment of our teachers and students as they engage in these experiences.
Traffic
On Monday I will be meeting with the road and safety officer from the Northern Beaches council. P&C representative Nicki Marenbach has created a survey to gather general feedback pertaining to the streets around the area.

Playground Upgrade
Our sensory playground upgrade is shifting into high gear! All demolition is complete, and the installation of the curved sandstone seating, rock grinding station and the sandpit stone. The vision is coming together. Our students are really enjoying the chance to see the construction occurring each day. It has been a fabulous community project with lots of feedback from our students throughout the design process!
Parent Teacher Interviews are taking place in Week 11
Bookings will open at 4pm on Monday 25 March and will be closing at 5pm on Tuesday 2 April.
Parent teacher interviews are a time to understand how your child has settled into the start of the year and how they are tracking socially and emotionally.
Please be aware that if you have met with your teacher already this term then they wouldn’t be expecting you to book another meeting. Please ensure you are at school 5/10 minutes prior to your appointment.
Kind regards

PSSA Round 3 results
Eagle Tag
Eagle tag is a sport that we play for summer PSSA. It is like touch rugby but with played tags. PSSA organisers a girls and boys’ competition. We play this sport every Friday afternoon and is something we look forward to every week. Some rules of this game are eight players on the field, no forward passing, don't drop the ball forward and you have six tags until you change over.
We all play eagle tag responsibly and with respect which includes not arguing with the referee. When we play eagle tag, we try to represent our school in the best way possible and we are grateful that this has been organised for us.
