Newsletter Term 4 Week 8 2024
"We acknowledge and respect the traditional custodians on whose land our school rests. Their footsteps and whispers blow in the wind, drift on the clouds, remain deep in the sandstone and float on the waterways of this place. Their memories and Dreaming stories will continue to connect us to the land and guide future generations of our school community. Country is alive if you take the time to look, listen and learn."

Celebration of Learning
Thank you to our outgoing student leadership team. They have led with integrity, and grown enormously over the year in confidence and self belief that they can make a difference to our school. Thank you Talon D, Olivia C, Charlie B, Olive B, Finn E, Lachie P, Kahlia M and Amelia S.
Thank you also to our house captains Taylor G, Vinnie M, Sophia C, James J, Millie G, Cooper I, Sammy D and Darcy C. You have all shown great enthusiasm and passion in mentoring and guiding our younger students in all things sport related!
Thank you also to our band captains Bronte S and Louisia O for your commitment and interest in the creative arts. It has been wonderful to have you both within the student leadership team this year. We look forward to seeing this role expand in 2025 with the renaming of this role to creative arts captains.
We have had a wonderful week celebrating our fantastic students and all their growth and hard work. We are very proud of each and every one of them. Thank you to our wonderful parents for making time to come and celebrate with us.
3 - 6 Celebration of Learning Principal’s address,
“Good morning esteemed guests, staff, proud parents, and most importantly, our wonderful students,
As we gather here today to celebrate the achievements of our students, I am filled with a sense of pride and gratitude. This is not merely a ceremony; it is a moment of reflection, a celebration of hard work, resilience, and the spirit of our school community.
As we reflect on this past year, we recognise that it has been a journey filled with opportunities to grow and succeed. Remember, it is not just the accolades that define you, but the resilience with which you overcome adversity. As you look towards the opportunities a new school year will bring, carry with you the lessons learned and the friendships forged.
At the heart of every achievement we recognise today is a story—a story of determination, creativity, and growth.
To our award recipients, I encourage you to embrace this recognition with humility. Use it as a stepping stone to dream even bigger, to strive for excellence in all that you do. Let it remind you that hard work does pay off and that each of you has the potential to make a difference in the world.
To our students who may not be receiving an award today, I want you to know that your efforts are noticed by your teachers, your parents and your friends . Success is not always measured by trophies or certificates; it often lies in the quiet moments of growth and the courage to keep trying. Your journey is just as important, and I urge you to continue pursuing your passions with the same enthusiasm and heart.
As we look ahead to the next year, I am committing to continuing to foster a culture of support and encouragement for every student. Let us continue to build an inclusive community where every voice is heard, and every child feels valued.
I would like to express my gratitude to our dedicated teachers and staff who inspire our students every day, and to our families for your unwavering support. I’d especially like to thank Eve Harvey, Sarah Olokinsky and Mandy Hunt. Thank you for your work over the years with our P&C, our uniform shop and our band programs. It takes a village to raise a child and thank you for all being part of our village.
As we move forward, remember: the future is bright, and it is in your hands. Dream big, work hard, and never stop believing in yourselves. You will be the wonderful leaders of tomorrow.
Congratulations to all our award recipients, and to everyone here, thank you for being a vital part of our school community. Here’s to a wonderful year ahead!

What are their benefits?
- Students learn alongside, and form friendships with, other high potential and gifted classmates.
- Special teaching methods allow students to learn at a quicker pace and in more detail.
- Research shows that students benefit both academically and socially when learning with classmates who have similar abilities.
Selective high schools and opportunity classes are not zoned so you can apply to ones outside your local enrolment area

If your treats do not require refrigeration, you can drop your cake box back to school on Friday, 6th December between 3PM-3:15PM to classroom 4/3W.
If your treats do require refrigeration, you can drop off your treats to the cake stall on the verandah (COLA side) outside classroom 4/3W between 10-11AM on the morning of the carnival.
Thank you so much for your support!

Worthing noting that many of the class academic awards and citizenship awards were awarded to members of our bands. It just goes to show that playing an instrument and being involved in an ensemble is good for the brain and social development.

Please find attached the XMAS and 2025 Summer Vacation Care Program. Bookings are now open via the Xplor Home App.
Please use the Xplor Home App to find the bookings tab and book into the appropriate sessions labelled "Vacation Care K-2" or "Vacation Care 3-6" where you will be able to book each child in for the days requested. When a solid orange circle is displayed above, your child is successfully booked in for that day.
Changes or cancellations will be accepted up until 2 weeks prior to your booking and must be requested via Email.
Year 3 2025
This is a reminder for all children who are currently in Year 2, going into Year 3 in 2025, please ensure you book in for the 3-6 Vacation Care Program.
Kindergarten 2025
If your child is beginning Kindergarten in 2025, please ensure you only book your child in from the 13th January 2025 and not the pre-XMAS period or first week of Vacation Care. We also highly recommend that parents consider the changes in routine that your child will be facing and the new expectations of a regular school day. This will be an exhausting time period for your child and we encourage children beginning in Kindergarten to attend between the hours of 9am-3pm to support this transition and their emotional regulation.
Reverse Advent Calendar
As we approach the holiday season Sustainable OSHC is participating in a Reverse Advent Calendar. In support of One Meal - Northern Beaches, Sustainable OSHC will be collecting a range of goods to donate to those families doing it tough these holidays. Our Reverse Advent Calendar will begin on Monday 19th November and run for 24 week days until Friday 20th December. Refer to our Reverse Advent Calendar on display at the Sign In/Out Area to identify which products we are collecting on each day. We hope our families will support this initiative by encouraging your children to drop the goods under the Koolkuna OSHC Christmas Tree.
