Thank you to the many parents who attended our Student Wellbeing presentation and Kindergarten Home Reading Workshop. Later this term Ms Amanda Mason will be running a Minilit workshop for parents whose children may be part of this program. Next term we'll be running further workshops on Digital Technology and also differentiation in the classroom. If you feel there are areas that you would like to have a deeper understanding of please feed this information to your class parent. Communication Protocols
Communication at Balgowlah North Public School is central to everything that we do. It occurs inside and outside the classroom between students, staff, executive and administrative staff, parents, families and the wider community. We follow the guidelines of our Balgowlah North communication procedures: https://balgowlahn-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/about-our-school/communicaton.html
Please see below a link to the School Community Charter. Parents and carers play an important role in the school community. The School Community Charter informs parents and carers on how to engage with NSW public schools. School Community Charter (PDF 1.4 MB)
Our staff at Balgowlah North will always find a time to talk to you when they can give you their full attention. Please remember that while our staff are in class, in team meetings or dealing with other matters, they may not be available to answer your questions immediately. ALL meetings with teachers must be by prior arrangement at a time that is appropriate for the teacher and the parent. Teachers are not available for impromptu meetings. Please contact the school by phone or email if you need to make an appointment to meet with a teacher.

Last week our P & C coordinated and ran a hugely successful Mother's day Stall, with our happy little shoppers taking home over 540 gifts for mums, nans, grans and special friends. We'd like to extend a very warm thank you to our helpers who made the day possible - Emma Green, Liana Haigh, Eve Harvey, Beccy Garrett, Jose Gilbert, Gemma Philipsz, Lorelle Gina, Lauren Hill, Amy Demetriou, Ingrid Chapman, Karen Cousins and Julia Clark. Also, a special thanks to Mel at Amis & Moi for her support too.
Electronic Report Distribution
At the end of this term we will be sending home our Semester One school reports electronically via email. If your contact details have recently changed, please ensure you have updated your email address with the school office no later than the end of Week 7 (Friday 4th June). Our email distribution system will generate a digital copy of the report to be sent home to the first registered contact for every student. For families requiring reports sent home to multiple parents or carers, please ensure the office is notified and current email addresses for both recipients are confirmed.
Parent teacher Interviews
Parent teacher interviews will occur in Term 3 Week 2 on Tuesday and Wednesday the 20th and 21st July from 12.30pm until 6.00pm. Please pop these dates into your diary as these are the only dates that will be available for parent teacher meetings. More information will come out over the following weeks with the booking details and location of the interviews.

PSSA
Representing our school during PSSA sports on a Friday afternoon is a highlight of the week for many of our students at Balgowlah North. Our students play with enthusiasm, and a large amount of pride. However, it is important that ALL of our students that are representing our school are attired with the correct uniform.
Our sports uniform involves blue shorts, sports shirt, sand shoes and white socks. There are also sport specific attires which are supplied by the school
Please ensure that your child is wearing the correct uniform each Friday.
Many Thanks for your assistance

NSWPSSA Netball Knockout
On Monday morning the Balgowlah North A netball team played in the 2nd round of the NSWPSSA Netball Knockout. The team of Lara Atherton, Amelia Crawford, Amali Elepano, Maia Deeran, Giselle Guterres, Tully O’Brien, Indie Orth, Lily Tappenden and Harriet Webster demonstrated lots of enthusiasm but were unfortunately beaten by a determined Harbord Public School. Girls, I was very proud of your sportsmanship and conduct on the day. Well done!

Be Safe
Weekly focus:
Being safe when using devices.
This week we are starting NAPLAN and we need to remember how to walk with devices around the school.
Activity:
- Where are your devices? Are they in your classroom or do you share with another class?
- What were the safety measures used by the students in the video?
- Why is it important to walk safely while carrying devices?

Koolkuna
On National Sorry Day – May 26th - Koolkuna has chosen to support “Clothing the Gaps”, a Victorian Aboriginal owned and led social enterprise. The fresh and dynamic fashion label uses their brand (a word play on “Closing the Gap”) to campaign, educate and elevate Aboriginal people’s voices and causes by influencing social change and promoting equity. The foundation exists to get Aboriginal people moving so that years are added to Aboriginal people’s lives. By increasing Aboriginal physical activity through participation in their virtual run, walk events, they endeavour to encourage Aboriginal people to be 'Wellah Together' physically, mentally and spiritually.
Koolkuna will donate $2.50 for every child attending Before & After School Care on May 26th by purchasing merchandise from “Clothing the Gaps”. On this day, the Koolkuna Years 3-6 will have the opportunity to walk down to Manly Dam and Years K-2 will be staying at the centre to participate in immersive games and activities to respect and reflect on the Aboriginal culture.
Recently the International retail giant “Gap” successfully opposed the registration of the trademark “Clothing the Gap” and are forcing the not-for-profit to remove any reference to “Clothing the Gap” from stock, website and collateral. Clothing the Gaps has up until 31st July to sell all items. The Koolkuna team have chosen to support Clothing the Gaps by purchasing and wearing the merchandise to promote our values and as a platform to elevate Aboriginal people to feel seen and heard.
