Newsletter Term 4 Week 6 2021
"We acknowledge and respect the traditional custodians on whose land our school rests. Their footsteps and whispers blow in the wind, drift on the clouds, remain deep in the sandstone and float on the waterways of this place. Their memories and Dreaming stories will continue to connect us to the land and guide future generations of our school community. Country is alive if you take the time to look, listen and learn."
Principal's Report
Thank you
Congratulations to Katrina Ross who has been successful at interview in securing a Learning and Wellbeing position at Macquarie Park. Katrina has been a huge asset to our school in supporting our diverse learners. Her new role will provide support to many primary schools across our network. Well Done Katrina.

As planning continues for 2022 we will see some changes to our staffing in 2022. At this point in time we will be forming 18 or 19 classes.
Thank you to the parents who have emailed with considerations for class placement for their child in 2022. Please ensure these are to me by Friday the 12th of November.
Thank you to our Ethics and Scripture teachers for their commitment to their voluntary roles this year. We look forward to welcoming them back in 2022.

School News
Cool Kids
Cool Kids have extended their free online anxiety intervention program for students across NSW. Cool Kids is an evidence-based cognitive behavioural therapy program designed to support students with anxiety. There are currently 150 spaces available across the state so interested families are encouraged to register their interest quickly to avoid missing out. Interested families can complete a self-referral by email CKOschools@mq.edu.au or by calling the Cool Kids Online team on 02 9850 6393.
Wellbeing Through Connection and Sustainability Project
Over the next six months our school will be working towards developing an area of the school to provide a space of wellbeing and connection for all members of our community. Our vision for this space includes a yarning circle and native garden which will be integrated into outdoor learning activities across the curriculum. This area will be situated at the back of the office building where previously there was a demountable classroom. The department is offering funding for projects such as ours through their Sustainable Schools Grant. Applications for this grant will open during term 4 of this year. To apply, schools must summarise their proposal and attach a project plan which sets out a budget, performance measurement and risk management processes. If you would like to be part of this process, either by offering assistance with grant writing, providing advice or expertise with landscaping or contributing in any other way we would love to hear from you. Please contact Debbie Horsley on deborah.horsley1@det.nsw.edu.au

Where the whale watchers gasp.

"It's Been a Year" Raffle
A huge thank you to all the wonderful BNPS families who were committed to supporting the inaugural Ping Pong Picnic before lockdown. It's such a pity we had to cancel it at the last minute but gale force winds and torrential rail would not have been good for that type of event! And of course, with the Covid lockdown we have been unable to lock in an alternative date. The team however pulled together some fabulous prizes for this event and additionally for the postponed trivia night. These prizes are valued at over $3000 including the main prize of a 2 night Stay at the beautiful “Dark Horse” Vineyard in the Hunter Valley Region. So, we are moving ahead with a digital raffle to get these prizes in the hands of our community. Tickets will be available until midnight this Sunday (the 14th Nov) on Flexischools and will cost $10 each.
To keep things simple we intend to convert the full value of the Ping Pong event tickets (including any raffle tickets purchased) into $10 raffle tickets, rounded up to the nearest $10. So by way of example, $85 spend on the Ping Pong event will be rounded to $90 and equate to 9 raffle tickets. We recognize you missed out on the fun we always have at BNPS events and hope 2022 brings with it many more opportunities to connect as a School community. All funds raised through, as always, will go towards value adding initiatives for our kids at school, this year in particular we are looking at more classroom technology and sports sheds. So, as usual, A BIG THANK YOU for your continued support. If you would prefer not to accept raffle tickets in exchange for your Ping Pong event tickets please email Nicole Nortmann at nicole25375@outlook.com and we can arrange a credit note for a seated event which will be hosted in 2022*. The credit will be valid for 12 months.
*This makes the assumption we will be able to hold events in 2022 however we will not offer refunds if, for unforeseen reasons, we are unable to.
