Newsletter Term 4 Week 9 2021
"We acknowledge and respect the traditional custodians on whose land our school rests. Their footsteps and whispers blow in the wind, drift on the clouds, remain deep in the sandstone and float on the waterways of this place. Their memories and Dreaming stories will continue to connect us to the land and guide future generations of our school community. Country is alive if you take the time to look, listen and learn."
Principal's report
Thank you
Thank you to our amazing P&C for their support of our school this year. I would especially like to acknowledge the P&C executive, our President Richard Wokes, Vice Presidents Ali Fraser/ Karen Ciano, Secretary Cath Mc Millian and Treasurer Lisa Foster. I would also like to thank Anne- Marie Pickard and Nicole Nortmann for their support over many years through fundraising and executive roles as well as many ‘behind the scenes’ roles. All of these parents work tirelessly behind the scenes ensuring that our school community is heard, and working together in partnership with us to ensure that we provide an outstanding educational setting for our students.
The P&C have provided funding for our K-6 robotics programs, and we will also have solar being installed over the holidays, thanks to the community grants that the P&C have been able to source. The P&C members have also ratified $45,000 worth of technology to ensure every classroom for 2022 will be equipped with new interactive white boards.
Industrial Action
As I am sure everyone is now aware, there will be a day of action next Tuesday across Public Schools in NSW. As such we have rescheduled our Presentation Days for Stage 2 and Stage 3 to Wednesday the 8th of December. More information will be sent out tomorrow regarding BNPS school organisation.
End of year stage picnics
Our end of year picnic days are our way of celebrating the year that was with our students! Our Stage 2 and 3 students will be picnicking with their friends at Manly Dam or Bantry Bay. Our Kindergarten, and Stage One students will be travelling to Bilarong Reserve, North Narrabeen.
More information will be sent home via the school app later this week.

End of Year Presentation Days
Our End of Year Presentation Ceremonies will take place in Week 10 at the following times:
Early Stage One- Monday 6th December 9:30am
Stage One- Monday 6th December 10:30am
Stage Two- Wednesday 8th December 9:30am
Stage Three- Wednesday 8th December 10:30am
These ceremonies are a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate outstanding achievement in the domains of academic learning, sporting success, citizenship, effort and growth.
Unfortunately, due to current DoE Covid Guidelines, parents are not permitted on-site to attend these ceremonies. We will be providing our parent community with a Zoom link for their child’s stage ceremony so that they can watch the proceedings virtually. These links will be distributed by the end of the week via the school app.
We have organised for our ceremonies to be captured by a professional photographer. These photographs will be published to an external platform for parents of award recipients to download their child’s photograph.
Reports
Parents will receive their child’s Semester 2 report via email in week 11 of this term. Please ensure you have updated your contact details with the school office if your email address has recently changed.
Our Semester Two reports will take on a different format to reflect the Covid 19 Interim Policy Standards, developed by the Department of Education in association with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
Reporting will provide feedback on individual student learning progress to support parents and carers in understanding how their child is progressing and what can be done to further support their learning. Priority curriculum areas of English and mathematics will be the focus of report content.
There is a modified 3 point grade scale where students will have their progress assessed to the state syllabus standards for their stage. A description of the grade scale is included below:
Working Towards (WT) | The student is working towards developing the expected knowledge and understanding of the main content areas for their stage. They are consolidating the necessary processes and skills to achieve syllabus outcomes. |
Working At (WA) | The student demonstrates satisfactory knowledge and understanding of the main areas of content for their stage. They have achieved the expected level of competence in their processes and skills. |
Working Beyond (WB) | The student consistently demonstrates exemplary knowledge and understanding of content beyond their stage outcomes. They have achieved an outstanding level of competence in their application of processes and skills. |

2022 Fundraising
It’s time to start thinking about how much fun we are going to have and what good things we are going to do in 2022 for our school community!
So we’re calling all parents (particularly current Year 1 moving into Year 2 in 2022) to make a contribution to Fundraising and social events for P&C in 2022!
Come to the School Library Wednesday 1 December at 7pm to sign up and learn more.
Nearly all events were sadly cancelled this year, but in 2022 we are coming back better than ever!!!
Get your friends together and get involved or come make new friends and own a P&C event to help raise funds for our school. It’s not hard! It’s actually fun! And you get to give a little back to our awesome school community.
Thanks!
