Newsletter Term 2 Week 3 2022
"We acknowledge and respect the traditional custodians on whose land our school rests. Their footsteps and whispers blow in the wind, drift on the clouds, remain deep in the sandstone and float on the waterways of this place. Their memories and Dreaming stories will continue to connect us to the land and guide future generations of our school community. Country is alive if you take the time to look, listen and learn."
Principal's report
Thank you to Mrs Eliza Mc Allister and Mrs Anna Harris for preparing our choir last Thursday. It was lovely to hear our band students playing together across the bands! This gives our younger band members an opportunity to play with more experienced players. It also provides our older students with an opportunity to mentor. Thank you to Mr Angus Bullough for conducting the bands. A lovely opportunity to celebrate our fabulous mums!

Mother’s Day Stall
Last Thursday our wonderful P & C ran our Mother’s Day Stall, which was a phenomenal success, selling 486 gifts and raising $2650! This is a wonderful community event that brings so much joy to our students (and the special ladies in their lives who received their gorgeous gifts on Sunday). We would like to extend a very heartfelt thankyou to Emma Green, Lucy Orth and their team of helpers who worked tirelessly to coordinate this event.
Forest High Enrichment Program
We have been given the opportunity for a select group of our Year Five students to participate in the Forest High Enrichment Program. This program is an opportunity for gifted and talented students to undertake hands-on activities that enrich their learning and foster the development of critical thinking, communication, problem solving and project management skills.
Students attend from five different primary school partners, giving the students involved the opportunity to work and explore learning with similarly capable students from across a wider local area.

Inquiry Based Learning In Stage 3
Last week our stage 3 students began an inquiry project to research and design an outdoor learning area in our school, which will be used by the entire school community and will reflect our local environment and our rich indigenous history. Dave Lardner, Aboriginal leader, visited our school last Thursday to work with the students to support this project. His presentation helped both teachers and students gain a better understanding of what ‘country’ means in Aboriginal culture and explained the idea of connection to country and how this would impact the design of our outdoor learning space. Dave suggested local materials which were traditionally used by Indigenous people and identified many native plants in our school grounds and the varied uses for these. His visit has inspired many ideas and some further questions, which we are excited to investigate. Stay tuned as we progress with this project.

Election Day is looming (21 May) and so is an important fundraising event for the BNPS Bands - the Election BBQ and Cake stall! As with all of these events, we would love your support to make it a success.
All the money raised goes towards the band program to buy equipment, resources and to give the students more development opportunities.
Below is a link where you can sign up yourselves and your family members to help on the day with set up, BBQ, serving at the cake stall etc.
Of course, we would love it if everybody could bake lots of goodies to sell on the day. Please let us know via the link below if you are able to do so. It would be very much appreciated.
