"We acknowledge and respect the traditional custodians on whose land our school rests. Their footsteps and whispers blow in the wind, drift on the clouds, remain deep in the sandstone and float on the waterways of this place. Their memories and Dreaming stories will continue to connect us to the land and guide future generations of our school community. Country is alive if you take the time to look, listen and learn."

Principal's Message
Thank you to the amazing students and staff for making Principal’s Day so special. I feel very fortunate to work with such kind, considerate professionals and to be surrounded by the positive energy of the students at Balgowlah North Public School.
Thank you to our fabulous P&C for supporting the school with an IT upgrade to our hall. They have contributed $30,000 to new screens, cabling and sound. This will be a fantastic upgrade to our performance space. We are now investigating performance curtains and lighting as our next steps in our upgrade process.
What a fabulous day we had celebrating our students and their learning last Thursday. It was a proud day as the Principal to see the smiles on the faces of our students as they proudly showed off their classrooms, their work and performed for their parents and visitors.
Wonderful opportunity to support Darcy and Talon at the Bear Pit finals on Friday at Parliament House. The standard was exceptionally high and both students performed exceptionally well.
Congratulations to Isaac on his trip to Nationals.
Kind regards
Brooke Keevers
Principal
Families and community of BNPS,
This is a rallying call for our BNPS working bee this Sunday the 14th August. It is only 2 hours and makes a massive difference to our overall school grounds.
We are going to tackle jobs that just aren’t possible for our groundsmen to do! Many hands make light work, so bring the kids and get involved.
The call is for families in Stage 2 (Years 3 & 4 ) to ‘own this’ as we have already had Kindie and Stage 1 step up and volunteer, but open to anyone that wants to get out of the house and their hands dirty.
Please sign up here: https://m.signupgenius.com/?fbclid=IwAR22B4ehZ7RhD7CqigBqFXhv-V2t2T-36O0PDj9CRyNbY-5cDLTGp2sctWA#!/showSignUp/30e0a4dada829abf49-bring
At the time of writing we have had 4 families sign up… We can do better! There will be a BBQ and cold drinks for those volunteers so please sign up and help… even if its only 30 mins it will be a huge help!

Celebrating Mrs Keevers…
Last Friday, the 5th of August, was Primary Principal’s Day. This provided an opportunity for our staff and students to reflect on how lucky we are to have a Principal who leads our school with vision, passion, integrity and an unwavering commitment to ensuring BNPS continues to have quality teaching and learning as our core purpose. We are all the richer for Mrs Keevers leadership and this special day enabled us to acknowledge the tremendously valuable impact she has on our school community.

Education Week
What a way to celebrate Education Week! After a hiatus for a few years, we were back with smiles and enthusiasm to celebrate all things education. Students excitedly hosted parents in our open classrooms, showing off their amazing work and engaging in some fun learning activities. Performances from our Stage 1 students, Bear Pit finalists and talented extra-curricular groups including choir, band, dance and drama ensembles kept the audience enthralled. Thank you to our staff for organising the day and opening their wonderful classrooms. A big shout out to our teacher librarian, Mrs Horsley for facilitating book donations in the library and to our canteen for providing such delicious recess treats!

Athletics Carnival Track and Field Results 2022
What a fantastic day we had on Wednesday last week for this year’s athletics carnival - lots of sunshine and smiles! Congratulations to everyone who took part. It was wonderful that we were able to hold the carnival this year albeit under different conditions. The students competed in a variety of events with their age group including running events, vortex “javelin” throw, poison ball, novelty relays and tug-of-war. The teachers were extremely impressed with the teamwork and effort put into all the events by our students. Congratulations to Isaac R who set a new record in the Junior Boys High Jump of 1.29m.

P&C Band News
The BNPS P&C presents the 2022 School Disco, taking place on 18 August in the school hall! This year’s theme is VIVID AT BNPS, so kids should come dressed in their favourite Fluro outfit or feel free to Glow! Each ticket includes a drink and a small ‘glow pack’ for your child so if you want to avoid the shops - we’ve got you covered!
The Kindy to Year 2 disco is 4:30pm-6pm and Year 3-6 from 6:30pm to 8pm. Tickets to each disco are sold separately on Flexischools and are available now. No food will be provided at the event. This is a P&C run event so we need to ensure we have enough parent volunteers with Working with Children checks (easy to get via Service NSW) to meet parent:child ratios, so if you’d like to help on the day please register via the link here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040B4CACAF28AAF49-bnps1
Kids at Koolkuna that day? No problem. Talk to the Koolkuna team about drop off and pick up from the disco. Special thanks to DJ Jayson at The Party Starters for DJing the evening.
Looking forward to dancing!!
